Our purpose is to promote chess, create more opportunities to play it, and bring more people into club chess from the grounding of a casual and supporting environment.

For those already playing, Brecks & Valleys should support their development at their own pace. Chess is an incremental game — for most players, improvement is a journey measured in years, not weeks. More experienced players have knowledge worth sharing, and we want that to happen naturally: through playing, analysing games, discussing positions and learning from one another.

As the club grows, so should its competitive ambitions. We want members who want to play competitively to represent Brecks & Valleys, build strong teams, and in time see a substantial club contingent across leagues, tournaments and other events.

Our longer-term purpose is to build a club with a strong and respected place in Norfolk chess — known for good chess, good organisation and the way its members represent it. A club that players want to join, members are proud to represent and future members will want to carry forward.
